was established when it spun off from the Ministry of Communications (current Korea Communications Commission) in 1981 and has led Korean information and communications industry from fixed telephone, digital communication satellite, broadband internet to wireless communications.

After the merge with KTF in June 2009, KT is positioned a leading fixed-mobile convergence service provider with a complete portfolio of providing one-stop ICT services for customers ranging from fixed, mobile, fixed & wireless broadband to IPTV. KT is composed of three company-in-company (Personal Customer, Home Customer, Enterprise customer) and the former KTF functions as the Personal Customer Group of KT. The annual revenue of the consolidated KT is estimated as about US$ 15.4 billions.

KT dominates the Korean telecommunication market with about 19 millions fixed line subscribers (90% of market share), 14.6 millions mobile subscribers (32% of market share) and 6.7 million broadband subscribers (43% of market share) as of June 2009.
